DESCRIPTION:Grab the family and a shovel and volunteer at the Cyntheanne Park Community Gardens on Thursday\, April 16 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  Volunteers will spread 40 yards of organic soil in 53 community garden plots. Tools\, work gloves\, snacks\, and drinks will be provided. All ages and abilities are welcome to join. Volunteers under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

DESCRIPTION:Arbor Day Celebration + Tree Giveaway\nCelebrate Arbor Day at the Fishers AgriPark! Fishers Parks’ annual Arbor Day Celebration + Tree Giveaway will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Arbor Day\, Friday\, April 24\, 2026. All are welcome to visit the farm during this time to grab a free tree for their household\, take a special Arbor Day StoryWalk®\, and complete Arbor Day-themed craft activities! This event is free\, and no registration is required. \nWhen you arrive\, enter through the front entry gate\, and make your way to our main event barn to receive your free tree (limit 1 per family) and enjoy other activities. \n\n\nSee farm work in action!\nAlso during this year’s event\, volunteers from Fishers High School’s annual Day of Service will be working on the farm to plant onions and cold-weather crops. Watch the group plant during your visit\, or interact with staff and volunteers when you pick up your free tree sapling! \n\nAbout Your Tree\nTrees being given away at this event are limited to one per household on a first-come\, first-served basis\, while supplies last. \n\n\n\n\n\nBurr Oak (Quercus macrocarpa)\nSource: Arbor Day Foundation \n\nFeatures alternating leaves that are 6 to 12 inches long\nYields acorns that are larger than most others\, with a conspicuously fringed cap that extends about halfway down the nut\nOffers dense shade\nTolerates pollution and heat stress\nLives for more than 200–300 years\nAlso known as the “mossycup oak”\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nButternut (Juglans cinerea)\nSource: Arbor Day Foundation \n\nDevelops a short\, usually forked trunk with a wide\, spreading\, open canopy reaching 40 to 60 feet tall at mature height\nAbout 7-10 months after planting\, this tree yields a ripened nut crop in late fall. A thick\, brown\, corrugated inner shell holds the nut kernel\, which has a sweet\, buttery flavor that makes it great for baking\, confections and fresh eating.
