Bins

Current Republic customers will NOT receive new trash bins, unless they currently do not have recycling services. Current Republic customers without recycling service will receive 1 recycling bin for the first day of service.

Additional Bin Requests

Additional bins and bin modifications may be requested following service start date. Three (3) total bins are included in city contract at no additional cost to the resident. Bin requests beyond the 3 included in the contract are available at additional cost to resident. See the FAQ below for more information on bins.

Current Republic Account & Billing

Current Republic customers will not need to transition current account or billing. Republic will sunset your accounts and stop billing on current services, prior to the city contract start date.Add your page content…

What services are included in the city contract?

-Weekly collection of solid waste and yard waste

-Bi-weekly curbside recycling
-Two 96-gallon (standard) containers for solid waste
– While 3 total bins are included in the trash contract, Republic’s initial priority is to ensure every resident has at least 1 trash and 1 recycle bin for the first day of service. Additional bins or bin modification may be requested through Republic after service begins.
– A 65-gallon option will be provided upon request
– Extra trash bag stickers will be available for residents to purchase- $25 large bulk or heavy items can be collected by appointment, directly purchased through Republic

When a major Holiday (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas) fall on a weekday, collection routes will be delayed for one day for the remainder of week.

Can I modify my bin selections or request more bins?

Following the service start date, you will be able to request more bins for your household, on Republic’s website or on the phone with Republic. More information will be coming on the process for requesting bins.

3 bins are included in the city contract, however for day #1 of service, Republic’s priority is to ensure every resident at least has 1 recycle and 1 waste bin, so that all residents may utilize the baseline services of trash and recycling on day #1.

Residents may also modify bin selection, in terms of size and number of recycling bins (i.e. you may select a 65 gal. totes or 2 recycle & 1 waste bin) These customizations are included, as long as the total bin count is 3 or below, which is included in the contract.

Who will manage billing for the trash service?

The City of Fishers will manage billing for the trash service. The monthly trash rate will be included on residents’ monthly utility bill for sanitary sewer. If you are not a sanitary sewer customer, you will begin receiving a trash bill monthly.

What is the proposed cost of these services?

The proposed cost per household in 2025 would be $16.39 per month. According to the public survey conducted last year, this rate is lower than what 85% of residents currently pay for services. 70% of Fishers residents indicated they pay more than $21 per month for trash collection; 22% indicated they paid between $31 and $40 per month; and 24% indicated they pay more than $41 per month for trash and recycling services.

I already use Republic, what will change?

As a part of the transition, you may see a change in your pickup schedule as Republic identifies new routes. These new routes and schedules will be circulated prior to service starting.

If you currently receive an invoice directly from Republic Services or through your HOA dues, these charges will discontinue. Your trash fees will be included on one single bill from the City of Fishers including trash and sanitary sewer (if your residence is on the City’s sanitary sewer).

Should I cancel my existing service?

NO action needs to be taken for Republic or WM customers to cancel service or transition your account. Both providers have indicated they will manage the transition and deactivation of accounts. Click here for a message from WM.

I pay for trash services through my HOA dues, how will my dues be impacted by this change?

Since each HOA operates independently, we recommend discussing any potential changes to your dues with your HOA board members. They will be able to address how dues may be adjusted to reflect the shift in how trash fees are paid.
