2026 March Disability Awareness Month

Join us for our annual Disability Awareness Month celebration, presented by Old National Bank, throughout March to spread awareness of what life is like for those with physical and intellectual disabilities in our community.

The month-long celebration, hosted by the Fishers Advisory Committee on Disability, features a variety of events and ways to support disability inclusion in our community.

March Disability Awareness Month Kick-Off

Mayor Scott Fadness and the Fishers Advisory Committee on Disability invite the public to celebrate the kick-off of Fishers March Disability Awareness Month. Hear from guest speaker Jessica Minor of the accessABILITY Center for Independent Living and help us recognize this year’s Disability and Inclusion Award winners and new ADA Grant recipients.

Fishers Arts Council’s Second Friday: March Disability Awareness Exhibition

Friday, March 13 | 6 – 9 p.m. | Fishers Art Center Gallery (1 Municipal Drive) | Free
Fishers Arts Council partners with the Fishers Advisory Committee on Disability to showcase visual art by individuals who identify as having a disability. Enjoy live music, refreshments, visual art, and special performances by organizations that serve individuals with disabilities, and a special sneak-peek performance by All-In Players in the theater. Indy Ignite vs. Columbus Fury Deaf & Hard of Hearing Night

For Employers: Opening Doors to Employment Breakfast

Employers are invited to join the City of Fishers Advisory Committee on Disability and Noble of Indiana for a free breakfast event focused on inclusive hiring for individuals with disabilities. Hear success stories and learn practical ways to support employees with disabilities. Register here.

Power Soccer Exhibition Featuring U.S. National Team Members

NEW: Adaptive Swim Lessons

Saturdays | Fishers Community Center | $80/members, $114/non-members | Registration required
The Fishers Community Center now offers adaptive swim lessons for children ages 5 to 12 who may experience physical, cognitive, sensory, or behavioral challenges. These semi-private lessons led by Swim Angelfish-certified instructors are highly individualized and focus on building confidence, safety, and foundational swim skills. Since 2016, the Fishers Advisory Committee on Disability‘s March Disability Awareness Month in Fishers has championed inclusion, collaboration, and acceptance for all people who live in our smart, vibrant, and entrepreneurial community.

This effort has had a positive impact on more than just people with disabilities in our city – it has become an achievement for which other communities strive.
