City Government Academy

Fishers City Government Academy allows Fishers residents to examine the inner workings of city government by hearing from staff, touring city facilities, and engaging in the collaborative city governing process. The academy is free and open to Fishers residents who are 18 and older.

Mayor’s Youth Academy

In partnership with Hamilton Southeastern Schools and the Eman Schools, Mayor’s Youth Academy builds community awareness, provides hands-on learning opportunities, and inspires future careers in the public sector. High school juniors and seniors who attend school in Fishers with a GPA of 3.0+ are eligible.

Fishers Police Department Citizen’s Academy

The academy is an opportunity for the community to participate in police-style training through a 12-week course. Topics include criminal law, crime prevention, the K9 program, defensive tactics, and narcotics training through demonstrations and classroom instruction.

Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Group

The Alumni Group are graduates of the Citizen’s Police Academy who provide volunteer support and organize social functions for the Fishers Police Department. 

Fishers Police Department Cadet Academy

Open to young adults 14 to 19 years old, this free program exposes participants to the Police Department and helps those interested in law enforcement careers to make an informed decision. Programs offered include crime scene investigation, traffic stops, use of police dogs, SWAT, computer crimes, and more. All meetings are open to new members.

Fishers Police Department Teen Academy

The Fishers Police Department Teen Academy provides law enforcement-type training for teens to understand better how law enforcement works and strengthen the relationship between Fishers Police Department officers and the community.  

The program provides an overview of roles and responsibilities of officers, as well as insight into specialized units and skills, including the K-9 Unit, the Fishers Dive Team, Crime Scene Investigation and Patrol. 

Fishers Fire Corps

Fire Corps members provide rehab support to firefighters on emergency incidents and participate in educational opportunities sponsored by the department, as well as city and department events. The Fire Corps maintains the Rehab Support Unit (RSU 309) truck, equipment, and supplies, and provides rehabilitation services during hands-on training. 

Citizen’s Fire Academy

The Fishers Fire Department Citizen’s Academy is a free 8-week program designed to increase understanding of fire and emergency medical operations and to promote citizen interaction with the Fishers Fire Department Personnel. The program is designed to enhance awareness of the department’s capabilities, develop realistic expectations of response times from the point of dispatch, and develop a cooperative relationship between firefighters and the citizens of Fishers.

Teen Public Health Academy

The Fishers Health Department Teen Public Health Academy is a free, one-week interactive experience for incoming 9-12th graders. Interested students will learn about public health career professions, public health at a local health department level, and how they protect and promote the health and well-being of residents.
