Supporting neighborhood walking groups that build connection and encourage healthy, active lifestyles.
The City of Fishers’ new Neighborhood Walking Grant provides funding to help homeowners associations and neighborhood groups launch or expand walking groups within their neighborhoods.
Neighborhood walking groups provide an easy way for residents to stay active while building relationships and strengthening social connections close to home. Through this program, the City aims to help neighborhoods create welcoming opportunities for residents to connect and move together as part of Fishers’ Culture of Health initiative.

About Neighborhood Walking Groups
A neighborhood walking group can be as simple as setting a regular day and time for neighbors to meet and walk together.
Groups can help residents get to know their neighbors, add more movement to their routines and create an ongoing opportunity for social connection. Neighborhoods are encouraged to create a walking group that works for their residents and welcomes participants of varying ages and abilities. Applicants may be asked to show how meeting opportunities are shared through regular communication, including newsletters, social media and other resident communications.
