Supporting neighborhood-led projects that create lasting improvements throughout Fishers.

The City of Fishers’ Neighborhood Vibrancy Grant provides funding for creative and innovative projects that make Fishers neighborhoods more beautiful, sustainable, connected and inviting.

Homeowners associations and neighborhood groups within Fishers city limits may apply for funding to complete projects that enhance common areas and positively impact residents.

2027 Neighborhood Vibrancy Grant Application Details:

• Applications Open: Monday, November 2, 2026
• Application Deadline: Friday, January 29, 2027

The Neighborhood Vibrancy Committee will review applications in the first quarter of 2027. Funding will be distributed in Spring 2027.

Grant Snapshot

• Projects must be completed within one year of the application window.
• Available to homeowners associations and neighborhood groups within Fishers city limits.
• Provides an 80% match of eligible project costs.
• Maximum City contribution of $25,000.
• Applicant must fund the remaining project costs.
• Funding may be used for project design, construction or installation.

Who can apply?

• Homeowner’s Associations and Neighborhoods within Fishers City Limits
• The Neighborhood Vibrancy Grant is a matching grant
• The grant accepts applications on a rolling basis and will distribute funds quarterly.
• The grant will provide an 80% match up to $25,000, and the applicants must provide 20% of the total project cost.

Preferred Projects

Funding must be used towards costs of a project which involves design, construction, or installation. Priority is given to projects that will have the greatest visibility and positive effect on Fishers as a community. Projects located inside the public right-of-way are subject to additional review and approval.

Environmental & Sustainability Projects

Examples include:

• Converting common area lawns to no-mow native plantings
• Monarch Butterfly Waystation and/or Wildlife Habitat Corridors
• Neighborhood Community Gardens
• Replacement of Invasive Species with Native Plantings
• Installation of shoreline plantings, water aeration, or rain gardens near Detention/Retention Ponds (White River Alliance Resource)

Recreation & Neighborhood Projects

Examples include:

• Improving Neighborhood Vibrancy and Appearance
• Common Area Trail Repairs & Improvements
• Park Improvement such as Picnic Shelters, Benches, Planters, Mini-Libraries, or Accessible Playground Equipment
• Improved Neighborhood Safety
• Expand Pedestrian Connectivity /Neighborhood Walking Trails
• Installation of Solar Lights or other renewable energy projects
• Tactical Urbanism

Short-term solutions that do not mitigate long-term issues. Examples include:

• General maintenance including planting annuals, landscape pruning, mulch replacement and power washing.
• The use of landscaping elements not approved by the Fishers Planting Guide.
• Previously completed projects.

Application Requirements

1. Completed online application.
2. Registration of Homeowner’s Association, if applicable.
3. A location map clearly indicating the location of proposed improvements.
4. Images of existing conditions of project area and drawings or plans showing the proposed project.
5. Detailed project budget with itemized list of project costs and revenue sources (please see budget detail sheet).
6. Verification of cost, such as a contractor bid verifying total cost of improvements.
7. All planting plans must specify scientific names, including genus and species (and cultivar when available); Planting projects must comply with the City of Fishers Planting Guide and Urban Forestry Program and utilize all native species unless otherwise proven to support local species.
8. Project must be completed one (1) year from application window.

How Applications Are Evaluated

Applications are reviewed by the Neighborhood Vibrancy Committee. The committee’s recommendations are then presented to the Fishers Board of Public Works for review and approval. Special consideration may be given to:

• Homeowners associations with a Reserve Study
• Neighborhoods that have not received an award within the past three years
• Creative projects that address an existing neighborhood need
• Highly visible projects with a strong beautification impact
• Sustainable and innovative solutions
• Projects that benefit a significant number of residents
• Projects supported by volunteers, fundraising or community participation
• Cost-effective proposals
