$80k+ Awarded for Educator Innovation Grants

The City of Fishers has awarded over $80K in grant funding to date to HSE Schools’ teachers as part of the new Educator Innovation Grant program, bringing innovation to the classroom and inspiring students to rethink learning. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and there is no funding cap on project requests. Learn more at FishersIN.gov/Grants.

July 4th Firework Shows

Celebrate Independence Day in Fishers with three shows around the city, including at the NPD Amphitheater (following the concert), Cyntheanne Park (12383 Cyntheanne Road), and over Geist Reservoir (by boat or from your residence). Shows will begin at approximately 10 p.m. Learn more at FishersParks.com.

Experience the Fishers Art Center

The Fishers Municipal Center, now open at 1 Municipal Drive, is the new home for City Hall and the Fishers Art Center and a welcoming gathering place for all. In partnership with the Indianapolis Art Center, the Fishers Art Center offers art classes and programs for all ages, engaging summer camps, unique gallery exhibitions, and more. Space is available in the Fishers Art Center’s summer camps, and registration is open for various Make It Take It classes for adults. Learn more at the FishersArtCenter.org.

Fishers Parks Monsoon Madness

Monsoon Madness returns on Saturday, July 20 at Holland Park (1 Park Drive). This annual event features giant waterslides, a mini-monsoon area for little ones, and live entertainment. Purchase a $20 early access wristband for smaller crowds and shorter wait times from 11 a.m. to noon, limited to the first 500 registrants. Find more details at FishersParks.com/MonsoonMadness.

Register for Geist Half Marathon, 10K and 5K

The family-friendly community tradition on Saturday, September 14 features a new after-party and VIP experience, with the return of the popular 10K race. Presented by Meijer, all participants will receive a race shirt and finisher medal. Register now at geisthalf.com.

NPD Amphitheater Concerts

The free concert series includes performances at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater on Tuesday evenings.

Adopt-a-Storm Drain

Help improve our water quality and reduce flood risks by adopting a storm drain. Storm drains are essential for managing rainfall and snowmelt, preventing pollutants from entering our streams, and reducing localized flooding.

The Adopt-A-Storm Drain program invites volunteers to keep these crucial drains clear. By ensuring only rain goes down the drain, you protect our waterways and community.

Your Role as a Participant:

  • Inspect drains monthly and before heavy rains
  • Remove leaves, trash, and debris
  • Track your volunteer hours

Mayor’s Youth Academy Applications Open

In partnership with the City of Fishers, Hamilton Southeastern Schools, and the Eman schools, the Mayor’s Youth Academy offers the opportunity to build community awareness, provide hands-on learning opportunities that enhance curriculum, and inspire future careers in the public sector. Registration for the Fishers Mayor’s Youth Academy is open through July 26.
 
The Fishers Mayor’s Youth Academy is a year-long experience provided by the City of Fishers for high school juniors and seniors that live in and or attend school in Fishers with a GPA of at least 3.0 to be eligible for the program. Register at fishersin.gov/MYA

Explore other youth academies like the Fishers Police Department Teen Academy and the Fishers Health Department Teen Public Health Academy. Registration is free and open for all programs at FishersIN.gov/CitizenAcademies.

Public Meetings Notifications

The City of Fishers launched a new Agenda Center portal to easily find city public meeting dates, agendas, and minutes. Find City Council meetings on the platform now, with remaining public meetings available in July. Sign up to receive email notifications for public meetings and see the new portal at FishersIN.gov/PublicMeetings.

Before the Bell

Get ready to head back to school with Hamilton Southeastern Schools at Before the Bell on Thursday, August 1 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater (NPD AMP). Meet representatives from each school and enjoy activities such as face painting, inflatables, student performances, and more at this free event. Learn more at HSESchools.org.

Fishers Farmers Market Every Saturday

The Fishers Farmers Market’s season runs through Saturday, September 28. Each market is held from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays during this period at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater. Vendors offer fresh produce, baked goods, specialty food items, meats, coffee, honey, plants, and more. Check out a list of vendors here.

Road Construction Updates

96th Street & Allisonville Road Roundabout 

Construction is underway on a new, two-lane roundabout to replace the current Michigan Left intersection at 96th Street and Allisonville Road, adjacent to the new River Place development and site of the future White River Park. The roundabout is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2024. This project is in conjunction with the City’s Allisonville Road corridor revitalization, which features road and walkability improvements, enhanced greenspace, and new development.
