2025 Fishers Habitat for Humanity Panel Build

The City of Fishers is proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity for a panel build on Friday, October 3, 2025 to increase affordable homeownership opportunities for families in need and foster safe, vibrant, and healthy neighborhoods.

About the Project

At a Habitat Panel Build event, volunteers help build the wall panels for a home. The event lasts around five hours (2.5-hour shifts) and utilizes nearly 100 volunteers. As with all Habitat build events, no experience is necessary and Habitat provides all instruction, materials, and tools to get the job done.

During each 2.5-hour shift, there is a 15-minute check-in period, a welcome and safety debriefing and two hours of build time, swinging hammers and carrying wall panels. Each shift is broken out into stations of seven volunteers and each station is led by a Habitat Tiger Team member who is well-versed and knowledgeable of the building process. Stations are given instructions for one panel at a time and volunteers work together to gather and layout the necessary materials and then hammer them together to form the full wall panel. Panels are then transported to a designated area where they are stood up and temporarily screwed together to show the layout of the home and create a unique background for the full group photo in between shifts. Panel builds are a wonderful opportunity for a large group of supporters to come together and be a part of the Habitat mission.

The mission of Habitat for Humanity is to build strength, stability, and independence through homeownership. Together, with the support of our corporate partners, we can achieve that goal. A corporate partnership with Greater Indy Habitat offers your organization a way to express your social responsibility strategy clearly and concisely – helping build a better community where everyone has a decent place to live.

NEW for 2025

We hope to raise more funds from our community partners and local businesses and now have the Affordable Homeownership Tax Credit up to $10K available for those who donate.

Attainable Homeownership Tax Credit

The Indiana state government recently passed the Attainable Homeownership Tax Credit, a $4 million program designed to incentivize individuals and businesses to contribute to Habitat affiliates. This program is a significant recognition of the growing need for more affordable homeownership options in our community.

How does it work?

Tax credits may be used to offset individual state income taxes or business taxes in the tax year the donation is made beginning in 2024. When you donate to Habitat, you can receive a tax credit worth 50% of your donation, up to $10,000 in tax credits. This means that a donation of $2,000 could result in a $1,000 tax credit for you or your small business.
