Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness declares Local Disaster Emergency, launches hotline to assist residents impacted by flooding

FISHERS, IND. – Today, Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness issued a Local Disaster Emergency Declaration due to unprecedented rainfall which has caused the White River, Fall Creek and other local bodies of water to rise to historic water levels, leading to severe flooding throughout the city. This declaration activates the response and recovery of all applicable local or interjurisdictional disaster emergency plans and authorizes the furnishing of aid and assistance.

The City has launched a hotline to provide resident assistance at 317-595-3211. Residents are encouraged to call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with any non-emergency issues. Any residents experiencing an emergency should dial 9-1-1. An online form is also available for residents to request assistance or who have flood-related issues at FishersIN.gov/Flooding.

Flood-related updates and information will continue to be shared from the City’s communications channels on Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, Nextdoor, and its website. This remains an ongoing and changing situation that differs from community to community. Residents should confirm information via the hotline or official city channels for the latest developments.

Please avoid flooded areas, never drive through floodwaters and follow guidance from public safety officials as response and recovery efforts continue. Road and park closures remain in effect for impacted areas. The latest closures can be found via X (formerly Twitter) via the Drive Fishers account.

Public safety evacuated 16 homes in two Fishers neighborhoods. These teams are working closely with these families to provide the support they need.

What can I do to help?

Stay away from flooded areas and roadways. Curious residents are negatively impacting public safety operations by visiting these areas. Fishers public safety teams have increased patrols in these areas to deter visitors.

What is a Local Disaster Emergency and why was it declared?

Declaring a Local Disaster Emergency activates the City’s emergency plans and allows the City to ask for help and resources. It can also start the process for requesting assistance from the state and, if the situation qualifies, the federal government.

How long is this declaration in effect?

The declaration remains in effect until Saturday, August 22, 2026.

Are there local shelters available?

The American Red Cross is opening a reception center for evacuees in Hamilton County at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds, Hall A, at 2003 Pleasant Street, Noblesville, IN 46060. This resource is currently available to anyone in the community who needs a safe place to go, food, or water.

Are there sandbags available?

Free sandbags are available from Hamilton County Emergency Management on a first-come, first-served basis at 1717 Pleasant Street in Noblesville.

Citizens Energy Group manages Fishers’ water utility. Per their guidance, currently water in Fishers is safe to drink. We will post updates to our social media channels and this page if the situation changes.

Do not drive around barricades or enter flooded areas to sightsee. Drivers ignoring closures are creating additional hazards and pulling critical public safety resources away from residents who need immediate assistance.
