The City of Fishers broke ground on the Fishers Community Center at Johnson Farm today. The 105,000 square-foot recreation facility will be the first of its kind in Fishers and located on Hoosier Road near 121st Street.
The groundbreaking included remarks from Mayor Scott Fadness and project stakeholders. Special guests included Hoosier Road Elementary students who helped to break ground on the new facility, as well as Art Johnson, whose family farmed the land for generations.
The new community center was created based on resident input during a public outreach campaign beginning in 2021. Nearly 3,500 residents completed a survey to share the amenities they most desired in this facility. Top items like a dog park, indoor playground, indoor walking/running track, and aquatics facility were included in the design. The Center will offer both memberships and day passes with discounts for Fishers residents, while featuring free amenities accessible to both residents and non-residents, including a large indoor playground, indoor track for walking and running, and a café operated by Sahm’s Hospitality Group. The Center will also be the new home of the Fishers Health Department, as well as Outside the Box’s adult day program to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
