2024 Automatic Benefits
Paid Time Off (PTO)
Full-time employees earn 1.5 shifts of PTO per month during the first four years of employment. In the fifth year and every fifth year thereafter, employees earn an additional 3 shifts.
Sick Leave
Employees have available to them an unlimited amount of sick time to be used for their illness or injury in place of short-term disability. Usage is tracked via an occasion system to prevent abuse.
Paid Holidays
The City offers 10 recognized paid holidays (including the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve) and 2 paid floating holidays each year.
Public Employees Retirement Fund (PERF)
Employees are automatically enrolled in PERF. The City pays 100% of civilian employee contributions plus the employer contribution.
Long Term Disability
Employees are provided with long-term disability benefits which pays 60% of your salary after 90 days and determination of disability.
Life Insurance
Employees are automatically provided a $50,000 life and accidental death and dismemberment policy.
Confidential Counseling Services
The Life Services Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a counseling and referral service designed to help employees and their families overcome personal problems including alcohol & drug abuse, depression, family conflicts, and stress.
On-Site Workout Facility
Employees and their immediate family members have access to an on-site gym featuring free weights, nautilus machines, treadmills, and stair masters. Membership discounts are also offered by many local fitness centers including the Fishers YMCA.
On-Site Medical Center
Available at no cost to employees and their dependents who are enrolled in the City’s health insurance plan. The clinic offers primary and preventative care as well as a variety of generic prescription drugs, lab tests and chronic disease management.
On-Site Physical Therapy
This service is available at no cost to employees and their dependents who are enrolled in the City’s health insurance plan.

Medical Insurance including Dental and Vision (Bi-Weekly Employee Premiums):
- Employee Only: $0.00
- Employee + Spouse: $39.42
- Employee + Child(ren): $34.76
- Family: $65.39
- Deductible: $1,500/individual, $3,000/employee + dependent(s)
- Coinsurance: 100% after deductible is met
Health Savings Account
Historically, the City has annually contributed to employees’ Health Savings Accounts (HSA):
- $500/individual
- $1,000/employee + dependent(s)
- These amounts are pro-rated for those who start mid-year.

457(b) Pre-Tax Retirement Program
Enables employees to set aside pre and post-payroll deducted dollars for retirement. The City matches 50%, up to $1,500 annually.
Supplemental Life Insurance
Employees may purchase additional life insurance for themselves, their spouse, and/or child(ren).
Supplemental Health Insurance
Employees may purchase dental, personal recovery, intensive care, cancer, and accident insurance.
Dependent Care Flexible Spending
Flex spending enables employees to save pre-tax dollars through payroll deduction for dependent care expenses.
Tuition Reimbursement Program
Upon completing one year of service, employees actively pursuing a job-related associate, bachelor’s or master’s degree may apply for tuition reimbursement of up to $1,000 per course and $5,250 per year.
