Celebrate and Recognize Your Loved Ones and Community Heroes
Explore Ways to Honor Friends, Family, and Local Businesses in Fishers!
The City of Fishers is relaunching its Tribute Tree Program, and applications are now open!
The City of Fishers has introduced a renewed Tribute Tree Program. This initiative invites residents to donate trees in memory of loved ones, to honor significant individuals, or to celebrate special occasions, and thereby adding vibrancy to the city’s parks and public spaces.
The revamped program features an easy-to-use online portal for requesting and coordinating tree plantings. Through the application process, residents can request to plant a tree they have purchased and choose a preferred location from several parks in Fishers. The planting process will be overseen by the Fishers Department of Public Works, and residents can request to be present for the tree-planting and conduct a ceremony or celebrate the planting in a manner that honors their loved ones.
Important Information for Tribute Tree Program Applicants
As part of the Tribute Tree Program, applicants are responsible for purchasing their tree from a local Fishers nursery. This application serves to request the planting on public property and for City staff to plan and to coordinate all necessary logistics around the planting. This application also shares the option to purchase a tribute plaque to accompany your tree.
Please note the following steps:
Coordination: In early October, a city staff member will contact you via this application to assist with the purchase, pickup, and planting arrangements.
Tree Purchase: Trees must be bought by the applicant from a designated Fishers nursery (e.g., Allisonville Nursery, Wasson Nursery, Lowe’s) to facilitate transportation by the City of Fishers staff.
Planting Week: During the designated planting week, the Department of Public Works staff will liaise with the nursery to arrange the pickup of your purchased tree. You will be notified of the specific timing for pickup and planting.
As part of the updated Tribute Tree Program, we are now offering the option to purchase a plaque to complete your tribute. All tree plaques must be purchased through your tribute application and will be produced by Fishers Parks Maker Space. This option now ensures uniformity and longevity of the plaques, and if any issues arise, the City of Fishers will replace the plaque.
We appreciate your participation in beautifying our community spaces with personal tributes that create lasting memories.
The Tribute Tree plaque options include:
Planting a tree in memory — a living tribute that benefits current and future generations.
Planting a tree in honor — a way to show appreciation for a loved one, a significant individual, or a community member, including those who have served or are serving their country.
Planting a tree in celebration — a unique method to commemorate birthdays, holidays, graduations, weddings, new births, anniversaries, or other special occasions.
You may chose any of the three designs no matter what message (honor, memory, celebration) you choose, these are just examples*
Applicants are responsible for the maintenance and care of each tribute tree after initial planting to include watering to ensure its survival. We plant in October to help assist with this process as trees go dormant and require minimal upfront watering. The Department of Public Works reserves the right to remove trees that have degenerated or been damaged, and they are not liable for replacements after installation. Please be aware that selected preferred tree locations may be adjusted if they are within a 50ft radius of utilities, buildings, or other location complications. The Fishers Department of Public Works reserves the right to amend the location based on these obstacles to ensure the safety and longevity of the tree.
Trees will be planted once a year in October in honor of National Tree Planting Day and to ensure optimal conditions for their longevity. Any applications submitted after the last Friday in August of that year will be scheduled for the following year’s October planting week (ex: applications summitted August 31, 2024 through August 29, 2025 will not be planted until October 2025).

This tribute program is part of the City’s broader efforts to honor and remember loved ones. In addition to the Recognition programs, the Fishers Honor a Hero program allows residents to purchase a brick paver or light pole banner in tribute to an armed services member.
Mayor’s Youth Service Awards
The Fishers Mayor’s Youth Service Award invites local youth ages 13 to 18 to build leadership skills and civic pride through community service. Participants can log and verify their volunteer hours throughout the year to earn official City recognition across five award levels, culminating in honors such as graduation gown ropes and a Letter of Commendation from the Mayor. The program supports both personal growth and community impact while offering valuable achievements students can share on college or scholarship applications.
