City Recycling Day

The City of Fishers hosts free City Recycling Day on Saturday, April 6 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Billericay Park, where residents can recycle electronics, household items, and household hazardous waste for free. This event is exclusive to Fishers residents; materials from businesses are not accepted. See a list of accepted items here.

Total Solar Eclipse

On April 8, from approximately 2 to 4:30 p.m., Hamilton County will experience the Total Solar Eclipse, with totality at 3:06 p.m. and lasting three minutes and thirty seconds in Fishers. Central Indiana anticipates 500,000+ visitors to view the eclipse.

Be Prepared

  • With anticipated additional traffic, motorists should travel with emergency preparedness in mind. Locations that have experienced a total solar eclipse previously experienced heavy, often standstill, traffic.
  • Because of anticipated video streaming, social media usage, and calls in a relatively small, concentrated area, those in the path of totality should anticipate loss in communications or poor service.
  • Follow City of Fishers social media channels for up-to-date info up to and on the day of the eclipse and visit ThisisFishers.com/Eclipse for more info.

Public Safety

  • Fire and Police will be stationed throughout the city in various locations to alleviate travel distances for emergency response in the event of heavy traffic.
  • Fishers Parks will be open to pedestrian traffic only to encourage residents to visit neighborhoods or local parks instead of adding vehicles to roadways. Geist Waterfront Park will be closed.
  • Cumberland Road will experience limited, local access only on April 8 to keep a clear thoroughfare for public safety.
  • City Services Building will be closed to in-person business. Assistance will be available via phone at 317-595-3111.
  • Learn more at ThisisFishers.com/Eclipse.

Road Construction Updates

Fishers DPW is using warmer weather to fix potholes along our roadways, prepare work zones for construction, repave streets, and improve roundabouts and medians. With increased construction, motorists may experience reduced speeds and delays. We are dedicated to keeping our citizens and crews safe along our streets as we work to make these improvements.

Please help us keep our crews safe by using increased caution when traveling through works zones where crews are working.

See a pothole that needs fixed? Report it with Fishers Connect.

Stay up to date on current and upcoming construction projects around the community when you visit Drive Fishers and sign up for our weekly construction newsletter or follow @DriveFishers on Twitter for real-time updates.

Become a Park or Rain Garden Steward

Volunteer to become a Fishers Parks or Rain Garden steward to get involved in caring for Fishers parks and greenways to ensure the sustainability of our natural resources.

Park Stewards will ensure our parks are clean, welcoming, and thriving ecosystems for our community to enjoy through trash cleanup, trail maintenance, invasive species removal, and reporting vandalism or park damage.

Rain Garden Stewards will help maintain adopted rain garden areas for a minimum of one time per month for one year. Learn more about both programs and apply here.
