MLK Day of Service

With local food pantries experiencing an increase in demand and a decrease in supply after the holidays, the City of Fishers will host a community-wide food drive as part of the National Day of Service on MLK Day. Donate and/or volunteer on Monday, January 20 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. For a list of donation needs and locations, visit FishersIN.gov/MLKDay. 

Participate early in the City of Fishers MLK Day of service by dropping off non-perishable food items at donation bins located at City Hall, The Fishers Art Center, Fishers Parks, Fishers YMCA, and Hamilton East Public Library between January 6–17. Learn more at FishersIN.gov/MLKDay. 

Citywide Trash Service Update

All incorporated residential households in Fishers will transition to Republic Services for all trash and recycling collection beginning January 13, 2025. The monthly service fee will first be seen on residents’ February bill (for January services). Information on routes will be released this month. No action is required at this time for current Republic or Waste Management customers for this change. For ongoing updates and details, please visit FishersIN.gov/Trash.

• Week of Jan. 6: Bin delivery continues to new customers; Waste Management final trash pickup and bin collection *Please leave bins out after date of service for pick up. 
• Week of Jan. 10: Waste Management final day of service for single-family residential
• Week of Jan. 13:  Republic citywide residential service begins

2024 Highlights

As we look ahead to 2025, we can’t help but reflect on all the exciting moments that made 2024 unforgettable in Fishers!

From the grand opening of the Fishers Event Center and Fishers Art Center to community-wide events like the Geist Half Marathon and new developments in the Allisonville Road and 96th Street Corridor, this year has been filled with milestones and memories.

Christmas Tree Recycling

Residents can drop off bare, live Christmas trees for free from December 26 through February 1 for recycling. Please ensure that all lights, decorations, and tinsel are removed, and do not place the tree inside a plastic bag. Drop off trees at:

• Roy G. Holland Memorial Park (parking lot, gated area)
• Brooks School Park (parking lot, gated area)
• Cumberland Park (first parking lot)

Summer Camp Registration

It’s already time to start thinking about summer! Registration for 2025 Fishers Parks Summer camps is opens January 6 for Fishers residents. Fishers Parks offers camps for children ages 5+ to explore their interests, make friends, and shake their summer-break boredom. Register for camps at PlayFishers.com/SummerCamp.

Geist Half Marathon Early Bird Registration Open

Lock in the lowest registration price now for the 2025 Geist Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K! This family-friendly community tradition returns on Saturday, September 13. All participants receive a race shirt and finisher medal. Register now at GeistHalf.com.

Fishers Community Center at Johnson Farms

Construction is well underway on the 105,000-square-foot Fishers Community Center on Hoosier Road near 121^st Street. The center reflects top priorities identified through a community survey completed by 3,500 residents, leading to popular amenities including a dog park, indoor walking/running track and playground, and aquatics center with a two-story waterslide. Set to open in Fall 2025, this vibrant facility will serve as a center of health, wellness and community. Memberships will go on sale in early 2025. Nominations Open for March Disability Awareness Awards

Applications are now open for The Fishers Advisory Committee on Disability’s 2025 Inclusion and Accessibility Awards! Nominations are due by end of day, January 24. Awards will be announced at the March Disability Awareness Month Kick Off on March 3, 2025 at the Fishers Municipal Center Theater, 1 Municipal Drive, Fishers, IN 46038. Nominate someone here. This year’s theme is Connected Through Language.

Last Chance to Apply for Neighborhood Vibrancy Grant

The City of Fishers is now accepting applications for 2025 Neighborhood Vibrancy Grant program. Last year, the city awarded nearly $750K to 46 neighborhoods across the city. HOAs and neighborhood groups can submit an application by January 13. $400K in grant funding is available in 2025. Apply now at FishersIN.gov/Grants.

Fishers Snow Fight

Fishers DPW works hard to keep our roads safe during winter weather events. You can help the Fishers Snow Fight team before a snowstorm by moving parked cars and basketball goals from streets, shoveling snow away from fire hydrants, and clearing storm drains of leaves, snow, ice, and other debris. Don’t forget to give snowplows extra room on the roads during a snow event. Learn more at FishersIN.gov/Snow.
